(Pg.83)Henry:(Frustrated, a deep question)Why do you do this,Alice? As you can see Henry always has a negative and doubtful side to him. that is why i believe he made the existence of "Pachuco" to give him the negative side and Hank could be the positive guy(most of the time). And honestly I have done the same as hank has.
Alice:What?
Henry:The appeal, the case, all the shit you do. You think the public gives a goddamn?
Alice:(with conviction)Yes! We are going to get you out of here. Henry Reyna. We are going to win?
Henry:(probing) What if we lose!
Alice:(surprise but moving on.) We're not going to lose.
Henry:(forcefully, insistent, meaning more than he is saying)
What if we do? What if we get another crooked judge, and he nixed the appeal?
Alice: Then we'll appeal again. We'll take it to the Supreme court.(A forced laugh.) Hell, we'll take it all the way to President Roosevelt!
Henry:(Backing her up- emotionally.) What if we still lose?
Alice:(Bracing herself against his aggression.) We Can't.
Henry: Why can't we?........."
And so on.
Do you think we all have created the opposite person in us, without knowing?

When a person tries so hard to be someone else or just a certain type of person, he or she may end up staying to that personality/stereotype. An example is a gangster, the person may try so hard to be one and next thing he/she knows is that he/she acts hard on everyone, he/she sticks to the stereotype of the person therefore creating another person/personality that blocks out any other thought/actions that differ from that personality, any thoughts that may have been from the real person inside, yes a person can make another personality without even knowing but also knowing.
ReplyDeleteYes I actually think that we have all created an opposite person without even knowing. When you are trying to become a person who is completely different so you change your attitude and personality that person is creating someone your not. When you lie just to look good in front of people you are creating someone different. Peer pressure is one of the ways that we create someone who we are not. When your friends come up to you and tell you come on you'll look cool. That’s oneself becoming the total opposite of who they are. Because if you were you those thought would have never been in thy head in the first place. So does that not sound like almost everyone we know?
