Home Sweet Home!!!!

Scene Nine, Well i had a great time reading the story Zoot Suit. I am not much of a reader but i did enjoy reading this play. I actually like this play because it was nice and clear.
"Pachuco:And that's the perfect way to end of this play- happy ending y todo.(PACHUCO makes a sweeping gesture.Lights come down. HE looks up at the lights, realizing something is wrong. HE flicks his wrist, and the lights go back up again.)

But life ain't that way. Hank.
The barrio's still out there, waiting and wanting.
the cops are still tracking us down like dogs.
The gangs are still killing each other,
Families are barely surviving,
And there in your own backyard...life goes on."

It is interesting how movies and stories we hear always have a happy ending. But reality is nothing always could have a happy ending. There is always there down falls and challenges we all go through. We might be satisfied but not always end up being happy. It's real life with a real ending.

Do you believe in a happy ending?

Freedom and Justice!

Scene Eight, Well personally I didn't really enjoy this scene but i was glad to hear the "boys" had their freedom, and justice was serve! But i think this scene would of been better if it would have more details. Or more specific with what really happen. it was dull and boring. I think this scene was just put to make a brief summary of how the war was won.
I don't have a quote or phrase because everything in this scene comes together.

If you would of lived that moment, The Zoot Suit Roits, What would be your point of view toward the Sleepy Lagoon Case?

Wondering Alice!

Scene Seven, Alice would always writes letters to the "boys" to see how are they and ask questions. After time has passed, Alice was getting worried that Henry has not wrote back to her. But as little as Alice know that Henry"Hank" was in solitary. She was furious for not knowing. It is important because he is losing hope and making it harder on Alice.
(Pg.83)Henry:(Frustrated, a deep question)Why do you do this,Alice?
Alice:What?
Henry:The appeal, the case, all the shit you do. You think the public gives a goddamn?
Alice:(with conviction)Yes! We are going to get you out of here. Henry Reyna. We are going to win?
Henry:(probing) What if we lose!
Alice:(surprise but moving on.) We're not going to lose.
Henry:(forcefully, insistent, meaning more than he is saying)
What if we do? What if we get another crooked judge, and he nixed the appeal?
Alice: Then we'll appeal again. We'll take it to the Supreme court.(A forced laugh.) Hell, we'll take it all the way to President Roosevelt!
Henry:(Backing her up- emotionally.) What if we still lose?
Alice:(Bracing herself against his aggression.) We Can't.
Henry: Why can't we?........."
And so on.
As you can see Henry always has a negative and doubtful side to him. that is why i believe he made the existence of "Pachuco" to give him the negative side and Hank could be the positive guy(most of the time). And honestly I have done the same as hank has.

Do you think we all have created the opposite person in us, without knowing?

Mind with in mind

Scene Five personally i really could relate to.
i didn't find it hard to understand.
Always talking to my self, having a conversation with myself, even sometimes arguing with my self. But for his point he only has him self to make him company. Its just not insane, well i think its not! i actually like talking to my self to get further with in myself, to see what kind of thought i have within myself. (pg.78)Henry:Learned What?...
Pachuco: Not to expect justice when it isn't there. No court in the land's going to set you free. Learn to protect your loves by biding them in hate, ese! Stop hanging on to false hopes. The moment those hopes come chrasing down, you'll find yourself on the ground foaming at the mouth. !Como loco!
Henry: (turing on him furiously.) Sabes que? Don't tell me any more. I don't need you to tell me what to do. Fuck off! FUCK OFF!.........

In this dialog between Henry and Pachuco (himself), was a intenst moment. Henry"pachuco", realized that sometimes when you have to much doubt in your mind it could turn against you. Specially if you made yourself into two different personalities.

Do you think it is healthy for Hank to have a second personality?

Act Two! Pride!

Suit Zooters, have a impact in all of us Latinos!
Well not only us the "Latinos" But every immigrant out there. For our ancestors that went threw the riots.
(pg.65) Pachuco:" Watchamos pachucos
los batos
the dudes
street-corner warriors who fought and moved
like unknown soliders in the wars of their own
El Pueblo de los was the battle zone...."

This phrase capture my attention because it is true we all are soldiers. Fighting a war that no one could ever over come and be the hero! The war is "life".
Think about it?
